Engineering bachelor's degree programs offer a number of disciplines or specialties, depending on what your career goals are. These programs offer core engineering training alongside general education requirements, and you'll study for about four years to earn this degree.

Completing graduate training allows you to specialize in a narrower aspect of engineering, and these degrees are often needed for advanced research positions. Master's programs take about two years to complete and may require you to write a thesis. Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus

Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech, houses the largest College of Engineering in the U.S. You'll have access to more than 60 research institutes and centers, including the Electron Microscopy Center, the Center for Nanostructure Characterization and Fabrication, the Fusion Research Center and the Space Systems Design Lab. Designed to prepare you for advanced research positions or a career as professor, the Ph.D. in Engineering program is composed of classroom coursework, research studies and dissertation development. Course requirements include nine semester hours covering topics such as research methods, computational methods and teaching. As you progress through the program, an advisory committee will track the progress of your doctoral dissertation and administer your exams, including a comprehensive exam, qualifying exam and dissertation defense.
