Maine College of Art

Maine College of Art (MECA) is located in a small city, and with only a few hundred students enrolled (as of 2012), it offers modest class sizes and a low student-to-teacher ratio. All students are required to take foundational classes in liberal arts subjects and art history. Graphic design students proceed onto coursework that includes typography, letterform and design history.

You'll also learn to work with industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite, and have the opportunity to intern and to gain real-world experience. The campus is home to the Joanne Waxman Library, a visual arts library, as well as the Institute of Contemporary Art, which hosts student exhibits as well as work from contemporary artists worldwide.

Non-degree seeking students can study digital arts through the adult continuing education program at Maine College of Arts. While attending continuing education courses at MECA, you'll have access to the library and all studios and facilities on campus.
