What You Need to Know

Nurse practitioners must complete a master's degree program; a number of schools in Ohio offer such programs. Prior to applying to a master's degree program, individuals must first complete a bachelor's degree in nursing and be currently certified as registered nurses (RNs). Graduate students will choose a field of study as a nurse practitioner and may select from areas of specialization such as women's health, gerontology, pediatrics, or family medicine. Work experience is often required; an acceptable score on the GRE is mandatory. Ohio schools that offer such master's degree programs are all four-year universities, most of which are public.
