Are There Schools That Offer Online Biomedical Technician Programs?
Online biomedical technician programs aren't common, though there are a few schools that offer hybrid programs that combine online and on-campus learning. Presented as either biomedical equipment technology or biomedical engineering technology (BMET), these programs confer associate and bachelor's degrees. Teaching methodologies include streaming video, online discussions, interactive classrooms and digital presentations. Depending on the program, you might be able to take your exams online as well.
Though you'll take some or all of your coursework online, you'll need to participate in some hands-on practice during the program at either degree level. Generally, associate degree programs offer limited online courses and provide you with the majority of your introduction to medical equipment. If you already have a background in BMET, you can usually take more online courses in a bachelor's degree program. However, you'll likely need to participate in a supervised practicum at a health care facility.
