Duke University in Durham, NC

Duke tied for eighth place in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for medical research and ranked third in nurse anesthesia programs in 2016. Duke's School of Anesthesiology celebrated its 45th year in 2016.

As a medical student at Duke, you'll complete an anesthesiology rotation during your second year of med school, learning anesthesiology fundamentals and participating in preoperative through postoperative care. If you plan to specialize in anesthesiology, you'll conduct a related research project during your third year or complete a longer rotation during your fourth year.
