Study Abroad

You've lived your whole life in the same town. Now that you're in college, adult opportunities are available, and you don't want these opportunities to pass you by. Studying abroad allows you to attend a university outside of the country, but it does not come cheap. The following, based on academic standing, ethnicity and where you'll study, are only a few of the scholarships available out there.

1. AIFS International Scholarship

Each year, up to 40 scholarships are given to students who plan to travel abroad. You can win one of these $1,000 awards if you have good grades and send in the application with a $95 processing fee and an essay about how studying abroad will impact you.

2. AIFS Study Again Grant

If you've already used AIFS to travel abroad but would like to again, check out the Study Again grant. This grant is also distributed by AIFS and is worth between $500 and $1,000, depending on how long you traveled before and how long you will next time.

3. CC-CS Scholarship

If you'd like to study in Spain, Argentina, Puerto Rico or Cuba, it's not out of your reach with the CC-CS scholarship. You can use some of your financial aid to cover costs and apply for the $1,500 (semester-long) scholarship to cover others. Apply for either the merit (3.5 GPA) or the diversity (3.0 GPA) scholarship, depending on which better fits you.

4. Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships

Awarding up to ten scholarships is the Fund for Education Abroad from Washington, D.C. In order to be eligible for one of these scholarships (worth up to $10,000), you must be a U.S. citizen with plans to spend at least four weeks studying abroad.
