Online Animal Science Degree Programs

Degree programs in animal science aren't usually offered fully online; however there are some blended degree options. See what you'll study, and read on to see possible education and career paths after completing an animal science degree program.

Can I Earn an Animal Science Degree Online?

Fully online undergraduate programs in animal science are uncommon because the study of animals requires hands-on work. Some degree programs offer a combination of online and on-campus courses. In these programs, you complete many of your general education courses and some animal science courses, such as swine science and poultry science, online, but must visit campus for some required courses, such as a chemistry lab. However, there are fully-online bachelor's degree agriculture programs that you can customize to include an emphasis in animal sciences.

Master's degrees in animal science can be completed entirely online. These programs may require you to have a undergraduate degree in life sciences, animal sciences or a related field.

In an online master's degree program, you learn about legal and ethical issues in running an animal breeding or food-production business. You are also able to take courses in animal health and genetics.

If you earn a master's degree in animal science, you might choose a career in developing nutritious feed for livestock or researching animal behavior. Additionally, with some experience and your online degree, you could choose a career in farm or dairy management.
