Apps for Better Math Grades

If you're looking for apps for better math grades, then look no further. We've got you covered. This article discusses a few great apps that can help you stay on top of your math game.

Mobile Apps to Help With Math

Whether you're in a high-level physics class or taking remedial algebra, many of us struggle a bit with math sometimes. If you're not one of those lucky few math geniuses who seem to carry a calculator in their head, your smartphone might be able to lend you a helping hand. While only you can ultimately be responsible for raising your grade, using these apps to fill in the gaps when you need a little extra nudge might help you get there.

Math Ref

As its name implies, Math Ref is a reference tool that also performs some mathematical functions. This app covers categories like algebra, vector calculus, prime numbers, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, linear algebra and trigonometry. It even covers physics and chemistry, and includes a periodic table of the elements. If you use the app a lot for homework help, you might find the fact that you can save 'favorite' equations to be particularly useful and time-saving.

Math Ref is available for all iOS 9.1 or better devices, so you can use it on your iPhone or iPad. There's also a free version of the program that has a lot of the same basic features as the full version. The full version is $1.99, so you might consider this a worthwhile investment if you find yourself doing a lot of math.

Number Line

This app is more of a game than a straightforward mathematics app; unlike the other programs in this article, this one won't solve equations for you or serve as a reference. But it's worth including on this list because I think it could be of use to students who are struggling with basic math concepts. Whether you're a middle or high school student just learning about math, or you're a college student who is rusty on the basics, playing a game is a great way to get your head around information without burying your face in a book.

Number Line focuses on decimals, fractions and percents. You play by placing numbers on a line in order of value. This will help those who need a little extra boost in their understanding of the ways in which percents, fractions and decimals present value. This award-winning app is available for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, and is free. If you need some practice with fractions, decimals or percents, give Number Line a try.

This is the second article in a series about mobile apps that can help make you a better student. Previously, the Techie wrote about writing apps. Stay tuned for more of these articles!
