What Topics Are Covered in Online Certified Medical Assistant courses?

Online medical assisting courses prepare students with the skills necessary to help patients and reduce doctors' workload. Through the classes, you'll learn to check vital signs, prepare exam rooms for patient exams and conduct some basic diagnostic tests. Some courses will train you to sanitize, disinfect medical equipment and rooms, and prepare patients for procedures. What Levels Are Courses Offered At?

Online certified medical assistant courses are available at the undergraduate level. Generally, you can earn a certificate, diploma or associate's degree in medical assisting. The entire program usually takes between one year and two years to complete.

How Do Online Courses Work?

In each course, you will need to complete the individual modules, including any assignments or exercises, before moving to the next. Certified medical assisting courses are typically not available in a fully online format. In addition to the online modules, you will have to supplement your learning with in-person clinical training, which can be completed in doctor's offices, hospitals or nursing homes near you.
