What Levels of Finance Degree Programs Can I Find Online?
Programs are available at the associate's, bachelor's and master's degree levels; some schools also offer graduate certificate programs. A 2-year associate's degree program in finance covers foundational finance topics, including the time value of money, financial statement analysis, financial services, and introductory banking. Bachelor's degree programs, often four years in length, go deeper in examining corporate finance topics, such as risk management, portfolio management, and international finance.
In addition to covering undergraduate-level topics, master's degree and graduate certificate programs allow you to further explore your interests through coursework in mergers and acquisitions, financial crisis management, financial securities valuation, corporate restructuring, and financial services firm management. A master's program may take 2-3 years to complete; you can usually earn a graduate certificate in six months or one year.

How Does Online Learning Work?
A computer with high-speed Internet access is required. You may be required to use Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, in order to complete course assignments. Additional software requirements may be introduced on a course-by-course basis.
All class activity occurs through a course management system, including multimedia presentations, class discussions, and assignment submissions. Class lectures can often be accessed at any time. You must, however, work within the same deadlines and semester terms as campus-based students. In some cases, you'll need to take proctored examinations on campus or at a school-approved site near you.
