IT Project Plus Certification

What is IT Project Plus Certification?

CompTIA Project Plus certification is designed for project managers in the information technology (IT) field. Earning this certification may verify your ability to successfully propose an IT project, manage a support team, complete the project within budget and deliver the results on time. No specific training is required in order to pursue Project Plus certification.

In order to earn this credential, you'll need to take a 90-minute exam consisting of 100 questions. The test can be taken at authorized Pearson VUE and Prometric testing centers. Unlike other CompTIA credentials, like A Plus or Network Plus, Project Plus certification doesn't need to be renewed through retesting or continuing education coursework.

If you have a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, CompTIA Project Plus certification may help you find work as an IT project manager. These managers develop budgets, meet with clients and coordinate schedules for IT projects.

The number of employed computer and information systems managers was expected to increase by 12% from 2016-2026, as reported by the BLS. Job growth during this period resulted from implementation of new technologies in U.S. firms, including more complex networks and updated software programs. The BLS notes that information systems managers earned a median annual salary of $142,530 in 2018. According to Payscale.com, the 10th-90th percentile range of IT project managers made between $55,000 and $125,000 per year as of July 2019.
