What Is an Informational Systems Master's Degree?

Many colleges and universities offer a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS) or a Master of Science in Information Systems. You'll need to hold an undergraduate degree in order to be admitted to the master's degree program, and some schools prefer if applicants have professional experience that relates to information technology, but it isn't always a requirement. The degree often takes two years to complete, and you may be able to declare a concentration within information systems, whether it's security or computer networks.

Through your classes, you will learn about software management, engineering, systems security and project development. You'll understand how to manage information systems that could be implemented at a business, nonprofit organization or government agency.
