Are There Prerequisites?

Master's degree programs in networking technology are designed for someone who already has a bachelor's degree. For admission into a program, you should expect to fulfill the following prerequisites:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a computer science-related major
  • Relevant professional experience in areas such as networking administration or network security
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA
  • Minimum acceptable score on either the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

Can I Earn This Degree Online?

Some schools offer fully online master's degrees in networking technology. In most instances, the coursework in an online program is identical to coursework found in an on-campus program. Coursework, projects, homework and tests are all accessed via the Internet on the school's distance learning website. You'll need a computer with high-speed Internet access if you plan to opt for an online program.

Despite being online, many graduate-level programs will require you to spend some time on campus. Typically, you may need to present your thesis or complete an internship in-person. You may also be required to attend an annual workshop on-campus.
