What You Need to Know

Certificate, diploma, and associate's degree programs are all available to students interested in a career as a paramedic in Nebraska. Because paramedics represent the most advanced type of emergency medical technicians (EMTs), there are no single courses in paramedic training; paramedic training programs take between three semesters and four years to complete and culminate in eligibility to take the national certification examination at the paramedic level. Nebraska schools offering such programs are all two-year, public schools and require that program applicants hold current EMT-Basic certification.
