What You Need to Know

You could enroll in a certificate or associate's degree program to learn to be a probation officer. Probation Certificate Programs in Florida

Broward College

The Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission authorizes the Institute of Public Safety at Broward College as a training center. It offers courses that include corrections legal considerations, communications and corrections and management of probation caseload. You can also take courses in probation supervision and investigations, defensive tactics, firearms, first aid and training in physical fitness.

Probation Associate's Program in Florida

Hillsborough Community College

Core courses in this associate degree program include an introduction to criminology and criminal justice, directed research, corrections, juvenile delinquency, constitutional law, criminal law and criminal procedure. You must also complete a criminal justice internship or field study. Credits earned may be transferred to a bachelor's program in criminal justice. This degree may allow you to take a position in corrections as a civilian corrections officer.
