You can also find Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs with a public health nursing curriculum.

Master's degree program requirements vary, but you will generally need a bachelor's degree in nursing, current registered nurse (RN) licensure and professional nursing experience.

How Can I Gain Certification?

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) offers the Advanced Public Health Nurse credential and you have three options for meeting the criteria. The first option requires a current RN license and graduate degree in public or community health nursing. For the second option you will also need a current license, as well as at least a bachelor's degree in nursing and master's degree in public health. In addition to your RN license and degree in nursing, you will need to have completed at least 2,000 hours practicing in the field of public or community health nursing for the third option.
