What Does a Sales Information Analyst Do?

As a sales information analyst, you'll work with buyers, sales staff, customers, and vendors to analyze and report on sales trends. You could work for a retail store, wholesaler, or product manufacturer and act as a liaison between the sales establishment and vendor. By identifying trends in the market you could make sales forecasts, adjust sales goals, recommend promotional campaigns, and set sales quotas.

Data collection and interpretation is a significant part of this job, and you'd need to be proficient in data analysis, statistics, and database management. You'd also need to be familiar with data collection software and standard industry practices, such as recommending revenue-generating products, services, and promotions, or assisting with departmental budgeting.
