Scholarships for Military Spouses

Scholarships are available for military spouses who currently have husbands or wives serving in the military, or have lost their significant others while serving. Most academic scholarships require essays, letters of recommendation and proof of service, injury and/or death. Scholarships for Military Spouses

Military spouses are eligible to receive educational benefits through the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program and the Veterans Affairs Spouse and Dependents Education Assistance program. Air Force Association Spouse Scholarship

The Air Force Association grants 12 one-time scholarships of $2,500 to spouses of active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members. Applicants are required to provide an official transcript and complete a two page double-spaced essay describing their academic and professional goals, including how affiliation with the Air Force will help students achieve them. The application process is open to spouses working to earn an undergraduate or a graduate degree.

CCME Military Spouse Scholarship Program

The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) offers scholarships of $1,000 to spouses of American service members. Those married to active duty, reserve and guard personnel are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Candidates must be enrolled in an educational program and be carrying a 2.5 GPA at the undergraduate level or a 3.0 GPA in graduate study, with more than six credit hours. Individuals applying to the CCME Military Spouse Scholarship program also need to complete an essay.

Folds of Honor Scholarships

The Folds of Honor Foundation offers scholarships to spouses of military service members who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty. Financial awards of up to $5,000 are available to individuals attending an accredited 2- or 4-year postsecondary institution. While awards are made for a single year, they may be reapplied for. Applicants must provide personal and academic information as well as a summary of higher ed expenses, which help to determine award amounts.

Hope for the Warriors Spouse/Caregiver Scholarships

These financial awards are intended to honor the strength and resolve of spouses and caregivers who have loved ones serving. Scholarships are available to applicants attending an accredited higher education program. Award winners are determined based on an application package that includes proof of service and injury or death, a 2-page questionnaire, a resume, an original essay and one letter of recommendation. Scholarships are awarded for a single year.
