What Types of Online Undergraduate Teaching Degrees are Available?

Although most undergraduate degrees in teaching are bachelor's degrees, there are associate degrees available in online formats. An Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education focuses on childhood education through activities and class development. The program will teach you how to work with children from birth to age three. Emphasis of the program is on growth, development, learning, and language development.

A Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is ideal if you want to teach children from early childhood to the eighth grade level. The program will help you prepare for teacher certification. You have the choice of what major you choose to pursue. You must select an education minor in order to teach at the secondary level (8th-12th grade).

A Bachelor of Science in Birth to Kindergarten Teacher Education degree program teaches you how to work with children and children with developmental disabilities. The program teaches you how to develop an effective learning environment for this population. You learn the foundation and theory behind early childhood education in this program. The program teaches you how to incorporate technology in the classroom, and you will learn the appropriate teaching methods needed for children. You will also learn how to teach in a multi-cultural learning environment and how to incorporate the family into the child's education.

In the first year of the program, you will take required courses in math and English. In following years, you will be introduced to nutrition and health safety, education for the young child, world societies, science, behavior in young children, program development for infants and toddlers, the family social system and assessment in early childhood.
