At least two programs in veterinary science are offered in the Las Vegas area: an associate's degree designed for students new to the field and a certificate to help currently employed veterinary assistants advance their careers. The associate's degree program is offered by a four-year, public school, takes about three years to complete, and concludes with the licensing eligibility required to be employed as a vet tech in Nevada. The certificate program is open only to currently employed veterinary assistants with minimum work experience. It takes about two years to complete and is also offered by a four-year, public school.

Designed for experienced veterinary assistants who are currently employed by a veterinary hospital, this certificate program will bolster your knowledge and expertise, enabling you to take on more responsibilities with the animals you treat. Throughout the program, you'll explore topics such as advanced animal nutrition, large animal care, and veterinary terminology. Upon completion, you'll be fully ready to expand your duties or pursue a more advanced role as a veterinary technician.
