Website Coding Classes

Learn about website coding and the degree programs that offer classes on the subject. Take a look at common degree options at both the undergraduate and graduate degree levels. Schools offering Graphics & Multimedia Management degrees can also be found in these popular choices.

What Is Covered in the Courses?

Courses in Web coding teach you how to create websites using various programming languages; you could learn about xHTML or CSS, for example. Some classes might focus more on programming and supply you with artwork you can use to make websites, while others may combine coding and graphics, requiring you to create your own artistic elements. You could learn how to make an interactive site that meets the needs of a client and implements a user interface that will be easy to understand. Here are some other topics to consider:

Website Design

This course will teach students about basic and advanced HTML techniques for designing websites. Aesthetic considerations will be studied, along with website management, multimedia concepts and tools for data analysis.

Computer and Information Systems

Students in a computer and information systems course will study topics related to computer science, including algorithms, hardware and software applications. Additional topics include computer programming and database security.

Internet and Enterprise Architecture

In this course, students will study web protocols, servers and other internet technologies that host various operating systems. The course will also focus on the way these technologies can improve business goals through e-commerce, data networks and telecommunication systems.

Usability Design

This course places an emphasis on the human factors that guide the design of user-friendly websites. Approaches and techniques that can be used to improve website usability will be explored, including menus, navigation and evaluations.

JavaScript

Client-side scripts will be explored in this course, in addition to basic scripting methods for website construction. Course topics include JavaScript features, module development, browser compatability and security.

What Degree Programs Offer Website Coding Classes?

You can learn about Web coding in a number of different undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Web programming, website design or Web development. At the undergraduate level, you can find these classes in Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs, which are available in online formats or on traditional college campuses.

At the graduate level, you could pursue a Master of Science (M.S.) degree program in Web programming or development. Doctoral programs in these subjects don't exist, but you could pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in computer science and focus your research on Web programming. Master's degree programs usually take 2-3 years to complete, while Ph.D. programs can take up to six years.
