Online paramedic programs are either certificate or associate's degree programs. Programs are not completed entirely online. Core course requirements for an online paramedic program may include the following:

    • Trauma Administration: A comprehensive study of the knowledge needed to become successful in the assessing and managing of patients with traumatic injuries.
    • Cardiology: A thorough study of the knowledge essential to manage patients with cardiac emergencies.
    • EMS (emergency medical services) Procedures: Students acquire the skills needed to safely supervise an emergency scene.
    • Intro to Advance Life Support: Topics covered include anatomy, disease and illness, and calculation of drug dosage.
    • Life Support - Advanced: Students learn how to assess patients and how to administer fluid and shock therapy. Course also may cover field communications, pharmacology, psychiatrics, pediatrics, delivery and labor, and orthopedics. Course may go on to examine the central nervous system, psychiatric problems, neonatal and pediatric emergencies, and injuries to the soft tissue.
  • Onsite Coursework
    • Paramedic Clinical: An instructional system providing education, training preparation, and direct patient care at a clinical site.
    • Hospital Experience: Students work in various hospital departments - morgue, respiratory therapy, anesthesia, intensive care, coronary care, and emergency.
    • Field Experience: This is an internship working with an EMS crew in the field.
