What Is a JavaScript Class Switcher?

As a Web developer, working with JavaScript means you will be creating and maintaining websites. Keep reading to learn more about what JavaScript is and how to become a Web developer.

Program Basics and Career Overview

A JavaScript class switcher is a programming function used to help Web developers create websites using JavaScripting language. An important part of building and managing a website is to have knowledge of computer languages and codes, such as JavaScript and HTML. You will create codes to convey words and sentences by using functions and classes of JavaScript. In the world of computers, a Web developer uses scripting codes, such as JavaScript, to create functions that make content on websites viewable to an audience.

As part of building a website, you would also maintain the website, updating and improving as needed. An individual might hire you specifically to create a website for them or you could work for a company that engages entirely in website creation.

Education

Pursuing a degree in computers or even graphic design would be helpful as a prospective Web developer. While a bachelor's degree is the minimum educational requirement to work in programming, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS, www.bls.gov) reports that employers may prefer applicants to have a master's degree. You could also get a webmaster certificate and learn how to create HTML and JavaScript codes. You might also take courses where you'll learn how to use Dreamweaver and Photoshop, for actual website building.

Job Outlook and Salary

The BLS predicts that the employment of Web developers could increase by 15% from 2016-2026. As the demand for websites grow, so will the need for Web developers. However, the BLS reports that if such jobs are moved from the U.S., it could hinder the job market. Regardless, it would appear that opportunities may be higher for those who have training in computer programming languages, know how to use multimedia tools, and can apply different computer applications to Web development.

In May 2018, the BLS reported that Web developers earned a median annual salary of $69,430. The middle 50% of workers in the field made $50,990 to $95,020 during that same year.
