Web Application Engineering Degree Skills
WAE degree programs teach students about the workings of web-based development that goes beyond basic HTML as the complexity of websites grows. Students learn how to design, then execute applications for the web on a big scale along with how to manage, analyze and maintain both websites and applications. Students develop problem-solving skills to create effective, working applications, especially in the areas of usability and security issues. They develop skills in determining functionality and computer-human interaction (interfaces) with the application. They may also find opportunities to work with multimedia software, such as Flash. Client-sided WAE (browser actions) may use Java Beans, XML, dynamic HTML, DHTML, Java Script, CSS, AJAX, ActionScript, Flash and HTML. Server-sided WAE (actions that the server will perform) may use Ruby, Perl, Python and PHP.
