The industry with the highest concentration of marketing managers in 2014 was the other information services, and the industry with the highest total number of marketing managers was the management of companies and enterprises. Although only average growth is projected, these workers help bring in revenue for companies and thus are less likely to be laid off than other workers, according to the BLS.

The BLS projects that jobs for market research analysts and marketing specialists will grow by 19% from 2014 to 2024. This much-faster-than-average growth projection is based on the increased use of survey and customer satisfaction data by companies. The BLS states that those with a master's degree will likely have the best chances for jobs. The industry with the most market research analysts in 2014 was the management, scientific and technical consulting services industry. The industry with the highest concentration of these workers was the advertising industry.

According to the BLS in May 2014, the median annual salary for marketing managers was $127,130, and the median annual salary for market research analysts and marketing specialists was $61,290. Marketing managers in securities and commodities exchanges, which was the top-paying industry for these workers in 2014, earned an average annual salary of $213,620. The top-paying industry for market research analysts was the aerospace product and part manufacturing, and analysts in this industry made an average annual salary of $107,830 in 2014.
