Williston State College
Williston State College, located in its namesake city in North Dakota, offers an Associate in Applied Science in Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). Coursework includes classes such as a survey of speech communication disorders, language development, language disorders and treatment, and developmental psychology. Students who complete this program have a solid foundation in the field of speech pathology and are ready to work as speech therapy aides.
Oklahoma City Community College
OCCC's Associate in Applied Science program for aspiring speech language pathology assistants is offered almost fully online. Students must complete two semesters of clinical experiences, which can be done near their homes. Courses in the program cover topics such as articulation disorders, anatomy and physiology of the body's speech and hearing components, autism, medical issues, and communication disorders. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in Oklahoma.
Lake Region State College
This 63-credit hour online associate's degree program enrolls a limited number of students each spring, and students complete the program in a cohort. Only the speech language pathology practicum experiences must be completed in person; all other coursework is online. Lake Region State College is located in Devils Lake, North Dakota, and graduates of this program are prepared to attain North Dakota's Speech Language Pathology Paraprofessional Certificate. Online students may choose to pursue certification in other states, though different states may have different requirements.
