What You Need to Know

Teacher-preparation programs are available at a number of 4-year private and public universities throughout Utah. While studying topics such as educational psychology, classroom management, history, physics and music, individuals can prepare to become state certified to teach early childhood, elementary or secondary school students. Undergraduate students must complete field practica and student-teaching experiences as part of their programs. Some of the master's-level courses below are offered online. Students of this program must complete a master's project before graduating.

Undergraduate Teacher Certification Programs in Utah

Brigham Young University

You'll study children's literature, statistics, child guidance and human development while enrolled at Brigham Young. You'll also be required to complete a student teaching requirement as well as a capstone seminar. Once you've completed the program, you may be ready to teach kindergarten and up to grade three.

The secondary teaching licensure program at Southern Utah University is intended to prepare you to teach grades seven through 12.
