Kansas State University

Founded in 1858 as Bluemont Central College, Kansas State University became the country's first university to be designated as a land-grant institution in 1853. Referred to as K-State, the university enrolls more than 22,000 students and participates in NCAA Division 1 athletics. Kansas State's online master's degree program in dietetics is offered as a part of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA) in conjunction with seven other universities.

Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics

This online degree completion program allows you to complete the professional dietetics core curriculum via a distance learning format once you have completed 30 hours of general education coursework in an on-campus setting. Online courses include human nutrition, dietetics management, nutritional assessment and food science. When you complete this program, you are eligible to apply for an accredited dietetic internship that will further prepare you for the national registered dietician exam. It's important to note that this program is not available for students in Washington, Nevada, North Carolina or Massachusetts due to authorization fees.

Master of Science in Dietetics

To begin this online master's degree program, you must be a registered or registration-eligible dietician who has completed an undergraduate degree program. The curriculum is composed of three core courses, 27 credit hours of elective coursework and a thesis or comprehensive paper project. Elective courses include food production management, pediatric clinical nutrition, nutrition education and dietary supplements.

Eastern Michigan University

Located in Ypsilanti, 40 miles west of Detroit, Eastern Michigan University enrolls more than 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Eastern Michigan University is home to five academic colleges and offers more than 200 majors and minors.

Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics

Once enrolled in Eastern Michigan's distance learning program, you are able to complete the undergraduate professional course requirements for a bachelor's degree in dietetics. Online course topics include nutrition therapy, food systems and metabolism. In addition to the online coursework, you are responsible for arranging supervised nutrition practicums in your area in coordination with program faculty.

Master of Science in Dietetics

This online master's degree program requires 73-76 credit hours and can be completed with two years of full-time study. In addition to the online coursework, you are required to complete supervised practical experiences under the supervision of a credentialed dietician. The professional course sequence includes nutrition therapy, alternative medicine, health science statistics and other advanced topics in nutrition.

Central Michigan University

With eight academic colleges, Central Michigan University offers approximately 300 degree programs at the bachelor's through doctoral levels. The university enrolls more than 27,000 students and is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics

This online program provides three degree completion plans. The thesis option requires 31 credit hours, the coursework option requires 33 credit hours and the internship option requires 37 credit hours. All three plans include coursework in macronutrients, clinical nutrition, nutritional assessment and nutritional epidemiology.
