Online Nursing Programs
Several schools offer different registered nursing (RN) degrees online. Since basic nursing training involves hands-on education, entry-level online registered nursing degrees are rare. On the other hand, degrees that allow currently employed nurses to further their education without leaving their current jobs are available from a number of schools. Drexel University Online provides several options to RNs who would like to pursue an advanced degree online. Registered nurses can earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree through Drexel's RN-to-BSN program. Another online registered nursing degree that Drexel offers is the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The MSN program allows students to specialize in a particular area of nursing, such as acute adult care or women's health.
The University of North Carolina
Students with a background in registered nursing can obtain an MSN degree online through the University of North Carolina. RNs have a number of specialty options for their MSN, including primary care, nurse administrator and nurse educator. While the courses are offered online, the school does require students to complete some hands-on work in a clinical setting.
The University of Colorado
Students looking to obtain an online registered nursing degree should consider the University of Colorado. The school offers an RN to BSN. Some of the core courses for its master's programs may also be offered online; however, many of the master's programs require attendance on campus.
