Pennsylvania State University

Penn State's World Campus was ranked fifth among the best online bachelor's degree programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in 2019. Penn State offers a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics entirely online. The courses for both programs are similar and include topics in macroeconomics, microeconomics, statistics, labor organizations and econometrics. Many of the courses have reading requirements, video lectures and exercises available on the course website. Although you can watch the lecture at your convenience, the course has homework and project deadlines that you must adhere to.

University of North Dakota

The University of North Dakota (UND) offers an online Master of Science in Applied Economics (MSAE) degree. The online degree program is similar to the on-campus program. Students must log-on to classes at a set time to 'attend' the classes and complete assignments on a set schedule. The program requires the completion of 31-32 credits of core economics courses and elective courses in economics and finance. Students that take six credits per semester may graduate with their master's degrees in two years.

Georgia Southern University

Georgia Southern University (GSU) offers an online Master of Science in Applied Economics program that is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Students can choose to concentrate their degree in financial economics, industrial organization and regulation or regional economic development by taking two concentration courses. GSU's degree program is designed to prepare students for work in industry rather than research. The online program typically takes two years to complete.
