Postsecondary Nursing Teachers

Community colleges and technical schools may require postsecondary nursing teachers to have a master's degree in nursing. Duties of nursing teachers may include creating curriculum and syllabi, grading and instructing students, as well as working with colleagues to maintain and improve departmental objectives.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse practitioners often work as primary care providers with specific groups and populations. Nurse practitioners need to have a master's degree along with applicable certification, and they may choose a specific area of focus. For example, a graduate of an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner program typically works with adults and elderly patients.

Medical and Health Services Managers

Graduates of an MSN program with a focus in administration or management may choose to work as medical or health services managers, as employers may prefer candidates who have qualifying experience in nursing or management along with a master's degree. These managers may hire employees, make schedules, manage department or organizational finances, and help to resolve conflicts that may arise within the workplace.
