BS to MSN Programs in Illinois

Several schools in Illinois offer a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program to students who hold a BSN and a nursing license. Many of these programs' curricula can be completed in less than two years. Read more below.

Benedictine University

Registered nurses who hold a bachelor's degree in nursing can earn an MSN, as well as a dual MSN/MBA, through Benedictine University's online program. The MSN program takes around two years to complete and can be specialized in nurse educator or nurse executive leader (nurse administrator), while the dual MSN/MBA program takes around three years to complete and can provide students with improved business administration skills.

Blessing Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences

Blessing Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences has an MSN program available to registered nurses who hold a BSN. The program can be completed in two years and offers specializations in either nursing administration or nursing education.

DePaul University

For graduates of BSN programs who are registered nurses, DePaul offers an MSN program that consists of 21 to 44 quarter hours and includes specializations in adult-gerontological nurse practitioner, nursing administration, family nurse practitioner, and nursing education.

Elmhurst College

Registered nurses with a BSN can earn an MSN with a specialization in nurse educator, nurse administrator, or clinical nurse leader through Elmhurst College. The part-time program can be completed in two years, and program graduates can also earn an MBA with a nursing specialization after completing one additional year of study.

Rush University

Rush University's two-year MSN program is available to registered nurses who hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The program has a clinical nurse leader focus and helps prepare graduates for leadership, educational, and training roles in nursing and healthcare.

Saint Anthony College of Nursing

BSN graduates who are licensed RNs can earn an MSN in three to four years at Saint Anthony College of Nursing through a part-time program. Students can pursue one of the following areas: adult-gerontology nurse practitioner, adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, clinical nurse leader, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator, and family nurse practitioner.

Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing

At Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, registered nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing can earn an MSN through a primarily online program. It offers the following specializations: family nurse practitioner, adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, nurse educator, neonatal nurse practitioner, nursing management leadership, and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.

Saint Xavier University

Saint Xavier University offers an online MSN program to nurses with a BSN, which can be specialized through clinical leader, nurse educator, family nurse practitioner, and executive leader tracks. Once accepted into the MSN program, students can also choose the MBA/MSN option, which requires the MSN curriculum to be completed first and is followed by an accelerated MBA program, further preparing students for managerial and business roles in healthcare and nursing.

St. John's College - Department of Nursing

At St. John's College - Department of Nursing, registered nurses who hold a BSN can earn an MSN in as little as two years. Students can choose between an online nursing administration and leadership MSN and a hybrid family nurse practitioner MSN, preparing them for healthcare management or advanced nursing practice roles.

Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences

Graduates of BSN programs with a current nursing license and at least one year of qualifying nursing experience can earn an MSN with a nursing education concentration at Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences. The program consists of 36 credit hours of coursework covering such topics as healthcare policy and technology, population health, and leadership; it can be completed in around two years.
