BSN to MSN Programs in Florida

BSN to MSN programs are offered at several schools in Florida. These programs require incoming students to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and upon completion award students with a Master of Science in Nursing. Read more below.

Admittance Requirements for a BSN to MSN Program in Florida

BSN to MSN programs require applicants to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and typically require applicants to have a valid RN license and clinical work experience. Programs often require students to have a certain undergraduate GPA (often a 3.0) as well as work experience in the same field as the chosen MSN specialization. Programs may also require incoming students to provide professional references and an essay expressing career objectives.

AdventHealth University

The MSN program at AdventHealth University is an accelerated online program that can be completed in five part-time semesters, allowing nurses to continue working while earning their degree. Students can concentrate their Master of Science in Nursing program in administration & leadership, family nurse practitioner, or education.

Barry University

Barry University's Master of Science in Nursing program can be completed in 2.5 years of part-time study. Students can specialize their degree in either family practice or adult-gerontology acute care, preparing graduates for nurse practitioner roles working with families or adults.

Florida Southern College

Florida Southern College has an MSN program with one-day-per-week courses on campus and 41 to 47 hours of curriculum, which can be completed in around two years. The MSN can be specialized in adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, or nurse educator (currently under revision), and provides students with insight and skills to prepare them for careers in practice and education.

Jacksonville University

The MSN program at Jacksonville University prepares graduates for roles in healthcare leadership and advanced practice nursing with the following MSN specialization options, some of which are available online: adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, clinical nurse educator, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, nursing leadership in healthcare systems, and informatics. Students can also complete a 48-credit dual-degree program to earn both a Master of Science in a Nursing and Master of Business Administration, preparing them for healthcare administration and management positions.

Nova Southeastern University

At Nova Southeastern University, registered nurses with or without work experience can earn a Master of Science in Nursing in nursing informatics, nursing education, or executive nurse leadership. Additionally, registered nurses who have completed at least one year of clinical nursing experience can earn an MSN with a concentration in psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, or adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.

Palm Beach Atlantic University

Palm Beach Atlantic University has a hybrid MSN program with a health systems leadership concentration. The program aims to reduce redundancy so that students can be engaged in learning throughout the four-semester curriculum, better preparing them for leadership roles in healthcare.

St. Thomas University

St. Thomas University has an MSN program with a family nurse practitioner focus. The online program consists of 47 credit hours and can be completed in as few as 18 months, enabling graduates to advance their clinical expertise and quality of care in their future careers as advanced practice nurses.

University of Miami

The University of Miami offers a Master of Science in Nursing program that can be completed in one to two years. Students can choose one of the following tracks within their MSN program: a 22-month online health informatics track, a 1 to 2-year family nurse practitioner track, or a 1 to 1.5-year program in either adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner or adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner.

The University of Tampa

Students can earn a Master of Science in Nursing through a part-time 42 to 49 credit hour program at The University of Tampa in around two years. Students can choose a concentration in family nurse practitioner or adult/gerontology nurse practitioner to further develop their skills and understanding of advanced nursing practice with adults or a broader range of ages.
