What Can You Do with an MBA?

Accountant or Auditor

Accountants and auditors prepare, review, and revise financial records for businesses and individuals. They may work with various financial operations records or work specifically with taxes or other data. Most employers prefer applicants with a master's degree in business with an accounting concentration, as well as CPA certification (Certified Public Accountant). By completing an MBA program, graduates develop an understanding of business and accounting topics that enable them to accurately and effectively process financial records, and an MBA program helps to prepare graduates for CPA certification.

Advertising, Promotions, or Marketing Manager

Advertising, promotions, and marketing managers create campaigns and strategies to create interest in services and products. They may create advertising campaigns, research markets, and create pricing strategies. Although most employers may require a bachelor's degree, an MBA gives candidates a competitive edge by providing graduates with applicable knowledge and skills in marketing and consumer behavior which are essential in these roles.

Financial Analyst

Financial analysts give individuals and businesses advice on financial investments such as stocks and bonds. Employers require financial analysts to have at least a bachelor's degree, and often recommend they pursue certification to expand their responsibilities and work opportunities. Earning an MBA, especially one with a finance concentration, gives applicants a stronger grasp of applicable skills such as analysis of financial trends, an understanding of business strategies, and effective skills for communicating and making investment recommendations.
