Rice University

Within the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, graduate students can pursue a full time, professional, or executive MBA with a degree concentration in operations management. All students follow a core curriculum in the first year that includes data analysis, managerial economics, and financial accounting, and then specialize in elective courses the following year. The operations management specialization provides a framework of study focused on supply chain, processes, and operational competencies. Classes are offered on weekday evenings and weekends to enable students in the professional and executive streams to earn their MBA while working full time. All MBA students at Rice are eligible for the Global Field Experience to further immerse themselves in international trade and business.

University of Houston

The University of Houston offers two options to pursue a graduate level degree in supply chain management. Potential students should consider the MBA and the MS SCM programs within the Bauer College of Business as well as the MS Supply Chain and Logistics Technology at the College of Technology.

The Bauer College of Business

Bauer College of Business's MS SCM is a non-thesis program that requires students to complete 30 credit hours of coursework covering topics in business analytics. The MBA program is offered in three modules: Full time; Professional; and Executive. All three modules offer a fast-paced, immersive learning experience with classes available during the day, weekday evenings, and on the weekend. Along with the MBA, students can complete a certificate in supply chain management. Both the Professional and Executive MBA programs are designed to meet the needs of experienced professionals working in their field while completing the program.

College of Technology

The College of Technology offers an MS Supply Chain and Logistics Technology. This Master of Science degree program requires knowledge or a bachelor's degree in fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or statistics as a prerequisite. Candidates engage in academic theory and research, while the academic rigor of the program is indicated by its STEM-designation by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). The degree program is offered fully online and self-paced to qualified U.S. students. International students attending the University of Houston participate in a face-to-face program on campus.

University of Houston-Downtown

The Marilyn Davies College of Business offers both full and part time MBA Supply Chain Management programs in the heart of downtown Houston. The MBA degree with a Supply Chain Management specialization requires candidates to enroll in 10 core courses in addition to the elective concentration courses. These concentration courses, ranging from legal aspects, to leadership, to sourcing and procurement, can be completed in 12 months in addition to the required MBA coursework. Classes are offered on weekday evenings to enable professionals in the field to earn their MBA while working full time.

Admission Standards for a Master Degree in Supply Chain Management

Master's degree programs in supply chain management are generally designed for students who have experience in economics, commerce, or business, although it is not necessary to have obtained a bachelor's degree in one of these fields as long as the applicant has earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Along with official undergraduate transcripts, students will need letters of recommendation, a personal statement, a completed application form and processing fees. Some programs require that students submit results from the GRE or the GMAT, although this requirement could be waived for some MS Supply Chain programs if the applicant holds a bachelor's degree in an approved science with a GPA above 3.0.
