Master's Degree Programs in Accounting in Massachusetts

This article compares accounting master's degree programs across the state of Massachusetts. The Bay State offers a variety of diverse online, part-time, and full-time programs that prepare graduates to take the Certified Public Accountant exam.

Northeastern University

For students who already have a bachelor's degree in accounting, Northeastern University offers an accelerated 7-month Master of Science in Accounting with concentrations in taxation and auditing. Northeastern University also offers a 15-month joint MBA and Master of Science in Accounting degree program for students who do not have a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Westfield State University

The 30 credit hour Master of Science program at Westfield State University prepares graduates to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam, Certified Management Accountant exam, Certified Internal Auditor exam, or the Certified Fraud Examiner exam. The program consists of a flexible combination of online and weekend/evening classes, so that students can fit their academic coursework around full-time jobs.

American International College

American International College offers a 30 credit hour Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation. This program is designed to accommodate both students who have a bachelor's degree in accounting and students with a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field.

University of Massachusetts Boston

At UMass Boston's Master of Science in Accounting program, students take core courses in accounting, cost accounting, federal tax planning, financial management, accounting information systems, and financial theory and analysis. Admissions Requirements for a Master's Degree in Accounting in Massachusetts

Some MS Accounting programs are only open to students with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business. Other programs allow students with a bachelor's degree in any discipline to apply; however, accepted students could have to complete an additional foundation course sequence. Minimum GMAT and GPA scores vary across programs. To apply, students must send in their official transcripts, graduate test scores, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a professional resume. Applicants who did not earn their bachelor's degree in an English-speaking country must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
