SUNY Polytechnic Institute

Students that elect to attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute can choose to work to earn a Master of Science degree in accountancy through their fully online program while enrolled as either full-time students or part-time students, depending on their preference. Before graduation, students will need to have taken a minimum of 11 classes that are semester based for a total of 33 semester hours, and they will have access to the same professors and tutors as students that complete their coursework in an on-campus setting.

SUNY College at Old Westbury

In as little as 30 credits of fully online coursework, students at SUNY College at Old Westbury can earn a Master of Science degree in accounting. If students already hold an undergraduate degree in accounting, they can complete this program in as little as two years, but the school only admits students from a few select states, including New York, Hawaii, Michigan, Indiana, Colorado, Virginia, Montana, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

St. Bonaventure University

St. Bonaventure University offers a completely online Master of Business Administration program with a concentration in accounting that requires students to complete a total of 39 credits worth of coursework of which 9 will need to be from required foundation courses, 12 will be from business core courses, and the remaining 18 credits will come from graduate-level electives. This program will prepare students for a variety of careers, including accountant, chief financial officer, tax manager, tax consultant, budget analyst, auditing manager, senior financial analyst, and tax fraud examiner.

St. John's University

St. John's University offers students the opportunity to earn a Master of Science degree in accounting in their fully online program in as little as one year of attendance, and students can choose from concentrations in areas like controllership, enterprise risk management, forensic accounting and fraud examination, information systems' audit and control, and accounting research. This program requires that students take a minimum of 33 credits worth of coursework, of which 3 credits will be from a required capstone course.

Syracuse University

Students can earn a Master of Science in professional accounting degree fully online from Syracuse University by earning between 30 and 48 credits worth of coursework. Students that have completed previous coursework in accounting can earn this degree in roughly 12 to 15 months, but those without previous experience in the field can earn their degree in 24 months or less.

Utica College

Those that choose to attend this college can earn a Master of Science degree in accounting in as little as two years. Utica College requires students in this program to complete a total of 33 credit hours of courses in general accounting curriculum, and a total of 36 credit hours of courses in general business curriculum.

Common Admission Requirements for Online Master's Degree Programs in Accounting in New York

Students who want to enter into a master's degree program in accounting online will need to hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in an area related to accounting. Applicants might also need to take either the GRE or GMAT within the five years prior to the time of application, and they will need to have their scores submitted to the schools that they are applying to. However, some schools do offer GRE/GMAT waivers for students who have a high GPA. Additional documentation may be needed depending on the school, and this can include letters of recommendation or an essay. Most schools require students to submit copies of their undergraduate transcripts, and there may be an application fee due as well.
