Students who want to earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on sexual psychology, should consider seeking enrollment in a relevant PhD program (preferably APA-accredited) focusing on sexual psychology. Some common admittance requirements include two or more recommendation letters, GRE scores, official transcripts from all institutions previously attended, and a personal statement in essay format. Psychology of Sexuality and Gender

Adolescent Sexuality

Students taking this course will get the opportunity to examine the contexts, processes, and clinical issues associated with the development and manifestation of adolescent sexuality. Women's Sexuality and Mental Health

This course will enable students to explore the issues of mental health and psychological issues from the perspective of gender and sexual dynamics in modern society. Collective and individual sexual trauma, hormonally mediated mood disorders, women's life cycle and transitions, body image and eating disorders, and illness constructs are some of the topics that will be covered in class. Students will also examine cross-cultural notions of feminine health, healing, and sexuality; cultural and historical variability in ideas of reproduction; and the impact of cultural perspective of sexuality on women's mental health.

Psychology of Sexual Violence

This course was designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of the psychological origins (and consequences) of sexual violence, abuse, trafficking, prostitution, and various other types of sexual exploitation. The social and psychological aspects of sexual violence are explored by students using prevalent theories, research, and case studies. After completing the course, students will have a better understanding of the social context and situational factors associated with incidents of sexual violence, the research methods used to study sexual violence, and the varying ways in which victims of sexual assault experience trauma.
