The BLS also reported that statisticians earned median pay of $75,560 in May 2012.

How Can I Work in General Mathematical Statistics?

Education

Earning a Bachelor of Science in Statistics or a bachelor's degree in math with a concentration in statistics can qualify you for entry-level positions related to statistical research and applications. Usually, according to the BLS, a master's degree in statistics or a similar degree in math provides better preparation and, therefore, better job opportunities in both the public and private sectors. If you're interested in working in academia, a doctorate in statistics is the minimum requirement to become a researcher or faculty member.
