Careers in Medical and Clinical Assisting

Medical and clinical assisting professionals perform many thankless duties that aid doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and other health care professionals as they care for patients. Medical and clinical assistants help patients with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, transport specimens and paperwork, file insurance and billing forms, interact with patients, answer phones and perform other clerical and support tasks. Most such positions are found in hospitals and private doctor's offices. Generally a GED or high school diploma is required as well as completion of a certification. Wages for such positions are around $10-12 per hour, depending on job duties and responsibilities.
