Degree Requirements for Physical Therapy Aides

Depending on the job title and responsibilities, a physical therapy aide may be required to only hold a GED or high school diploma. Many positions however, will require an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy. In these programs students will study sports medicine, exercise techniques, rehabilitation therapy, human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and other related subjects. Graduates will be prepared to work in physical therapy and rehab clinics, assisting licensed physical therapists during procedures and therapy and training sessions. Their duties may include preparing patients for workouts, development of exercise plans, consulting with patients, obtaining medical histories, scheduling appointments and other related tasks. According to Salary.Com, www.salary.com, physical therapy aides can expect to earn between $25,000 to $35,000 a year.
