Education and Training

To become a Chiropractor, you'll first need to earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A bachelor's degree in a science discipline is preferred by most Chiropractic Schools, but almost any type of bachelor's education is acceptable providing you take courses in English, social sciences, biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology.

After earning a bachelor's degree, you must spend another four years studying at a Chiropractic school. The first two years will be spent in the classroom; the next two years will combine academic lessons and clinical experience. After you complete the required courses, you'ill be awarded a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine degree.

Licensing and Certification

Like other doctors, Chiropractors must earn a license before they can begin practicing on patients. To earn your license, you'lll need to complete all required education and pass a state licensing examination. Some states administer their own tests; others use the four-part standardized exam administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. After completing the required examinations, you will be ready to practice as a Chiropractor.
