All business administration programs in Idaho are offered by public schools, some of which are two-year institutions. There are two types of associate's degree programs available: at least one designed to prepare students to begin working immediately and one for students to transfer to a business administration baccalaureate program. Admittance into the master's degree program is dependent upon an applicant's possession of a bachelor's degree and work experience.

Associate's Degree Programs in Idaho

College of Southern Idaho

This AAS program is designed to prepare you for immediate entry into the workforce after graduation. You take a core set of required classes that include marketing principles, advertising, bookkeeping and information science. You can choose from electives, such as personal finance, hospitality, event management and investing, in order to adapt your curriculum to your career goals. An Associate of Arts in General Business is also offered if your goal is to transfer to a bachelor's program. Although this program also requires 64 credits, only 3-5 of the credits come from electives and the rest come from required courses.

North Idaho College

This AS degree is designed to transfer to Boise State University, Idaho State University, Lewis-Clark State College or the University of Idaho. You complete the general education requirements and classes that provide a foundation in business principles. Some of the business-related classes include macro- and micro-economics, statistics, business law and accounting.

Idaho State University

The Bachelor of Business Administration program at Idaho State University can develop your critical-thinking and decision analysis skills while preparing you for an array of business careers. To gain admission, you must complete all the classes in the minimum criteria for business major status. Regardless of which specialization you major in, you are required to complete core classes that cover topics such as accounting, investments, statistics, policy, management and marketing. By the time you reach the upper-level courses, you're required to have a laptop that you will bring to each class. Classes are offered during the day and evening in order to accommodate your schedule.

The difference between the BA and BS options is that you must take 16 credits of a foreign language in the BA option. In the management accounting emphasis you can expect to learn concepts that prepare you for careers such as internal accountants, controllers and financial officers. You can also choose from other business-related bachelor's programs, including business and communication, sport administration, general business studies, management and hospitality management. Programs in the business college are accredited by the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education.

Boise State University

There are three options for earning your MBA: the Career Start MBA is intended for those with little to no professional experience, the MBA for Working Professionals is for those in the early stages of their careers and the Executive MBA is suitable for those with at least 6 years of administrative experience. In the Career Start option, you will earn 51 credits, in the Working Professionals option you will earn 50 credits and in the Executive option you will earn 40 credits. The college also offers master's degrees in accountancy and taxation.
