What Will I Learn?

The Algebra I course is designed to teach college algebra to students with a high school algebra background. You will study linear transformation, groups, linear groups, symmetry groups, vector spaces and bilinear forms. In the Algebra II course, you will build on what you learned in the Algebra I course. Topics covered include polynomial rings, integers in quadratic number fields, group representations, factorization and the Galois theory. The linear algebra course covers linear equations, vector spaces, determinants, matrices and quadratic forms. Other topics covered include bases, linear independence and inner products.

What Materials Are Provided?

For the Algebra I course, you can download 11 problem sets and four handouts. Materials also include exercises in the course textbook, which you may purchase through a link on the course Web page. Algebra II includes nine problem sets and three quizzes, without solutions. The course also provides a list of algebra exercises and readings in the course textbook. Linear algebra includes three quizzes with solutions and study guides, as well as a final exam.
