What You Need to Know

Washington students can complete a bachelor's degree program, a post-baccalaureate certification training program or a master's degree program in pursuit of a teaching career; students may prepare for initial certification or earn endorsements to their existing certification. These programs require classroom instruction and field or student teaching experiences. Admission requirements may include prerequisite courses, standardized test scores, a minimum GPA and fingerprint clearance. A bachelor's degree program takes four years; the master's degree program takes two years, and certification training programs take less than two years. Teacher Certification Programs in Washington State

Central Washington University

Central Washington University offers a certification program for teachers, as well as an endorsement process for teachers who already hold certification. Your classes will teach you how to teach and work with different types of students. By the end of your studies, you'll have the opportunity to student teach. To enroll in a student teaching course, you'll need to complete 75% of coursework, purchase at least one million dollars of liability insurance and submit Washington Educator Skills Test-Exit (WEST-E) test registration or scores.
