You could also earn an Associate of Arts in Digital Gaming or an Associate of Science in Video Game Design. Some associate's degree programs are offered in computer information systems (or a related area) and carry concentrations in video game development. These programs typically take two years to complete. Typical courses include 3-D modeling, electronic game development, game production, C++ and Java programming, building game levels and game analysis.

Bachelor's degrees are available in such areas as game development, game art and game design. Required courses may cover diagrammatic design, scriptwriting, storyboarding, game development, game production, game programming and human interface design. Some schools give you the option of completing a capstone project, thesis or internship during your senior year. Completion of a bachelor's degree program may qualify you for entry- or intermediate-level employment in one of the many areas of the electronic gaming industry.

Can I Earn a Master's Degree?
