Located in Miami, Florida, Miami Dade College's seven campus locations serve more than 165,000 students. The college offers a program leading to an Associate of Science in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Systems Technology. For those who prefer to learn on-the-job, an HVAC apprentice program is available through the college's Vocational Credit Department.

City College of San Francisco

City College of San Francisco has offered educational opportunities to students in San Francisco since 1935. Starting with an initial enrollment of only 1500 students, City College of San Francisco has grown to become one of the largest institutions of higher learning in the country. Today, the college offers students an air conditioning and refrigeration certificate program through its Engineering and Technology Department. Four courses, equaling nine credit units in total, are required to complete this HVAC program.

Houston Community College System

Located in Houston, Texas, the Houston Community College System has six campuses and has served upwards of 1.3 million students since it opened its doors in 1971. Their HVACR certificate program consists of three semesters. It is designed to train individuals in the use and repair of EPA-approved HVAC machinery and components.
