About Accredited MBA Programs

Most MBA programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB, www.aacsb.edu). In addition to traditional programs, a number of colleges and universities offer other types of accredited MBA programs and prospective students should be aware that certain MBA programs are more widely-recognized than others. One- and Two-Year MBA Programs

One- and two-year MBA (or accelerated) programs allow students to obtain their degrees in less time than it would normally take. A traditional MBA program generally takes about two years of full-time study to complete, so full-time students may choose a one-year option. Accelerated programs for part-time students take between 18 months and two years to complete.

Part-time MBA Programs

Part-time MBA programs are often pursued by those already working full-time. Such an option can offer flexible scheduling and, in turn, allow students to work toward their MBA degrees while integrating the professional work experience of their full-time jobs. Courses are offered in the evenings and on weekends. Part-time MBA programs can take between three and five years to complete.

Online MBA Programs

These programs typically offer the same courses as those taught on campus. In some cases, the same faculty members teach many, if not all, online classes. Online MBA degrees are generally pursued part-time, and some programs may even offer accelerated tracks.

Executive MBA Programs

Graduate-level business programs that are designed for those already in upper-management positions are known as executive MBA programs. This common type of accredited MBA program is designed to provide executives with knowledge of modern techniques and strategies in the areas of marketing, finance and management.
