There are a variety of EMT training programs from the certificate to the associate's degree level offered in the Minneapolis area. These programs include classes, labs and clinical rotations where you can practice what you've learned in preparation for employment and professional exams.

Certificate training is usually a short-term program and prepares students for initial EMT certification at the basic, intermediate or paramedic level. New students may be subject to placement tests. Associate's degree programs are competitive and typically take two years to complete, unless you choose an accelerated option; they prepare students for paramedic careers and certification. Hennepin Technical College

This program will train you to provide care during traumatic injuries or medical illnesses. You'll study treatment methods and the principles of emergency medical safety so that you can respond effectively. Classes cover topics such as phlebotomy, medical terminology, nursing assistance and the role of the emergency medical responder. This training can prepare you to become an emergency room technician or an emergency medical services specialist.
