University of Northern Colorado

The University of Northern Colorado's 126-credit doctorate degree in counseling psychology entails at least three years of didactic coursework and clinical training, and one year of internship. The program includes 17 credit hours of research, 28 hours of practicum, and 16 hours of research proposal and dissertation. Apart from the required research courses, students can opt to take one additional course to earn a doctoral minor in applied statistics and research methods.

University of Denver

The University of Denver offers a master's degree in counseling psychology with concentrations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (90 quarter credits), School Counseling (72 quarter credits), and Research (72 quarter credits). The program, which can be completed in 2-3 years, mainly covers adolescent and adult interventions, but courses and practicum experience on child counseling as well as marital and family counseling are also available.
